If you donated to charities in support of Superstorm Sandy victims or the families of Sandy Hook, you may not get the tax write-off you were expecting.
Turns out, a number of the groups were not legit.
If the I-R-S catches a taxpayer deducting a donation to a non-eligible organization, the filer has to pay a penalty and any unpaid taxes...as well as interest.
