Richland County Elections Head Says He Can Do Job

By Alicia Barnes

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) _ The man hired to be Richland County's new elections director says he will have plenty of time to do the job right.

Howard Jackson spoke to The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg on Sunday to respond to a previous article in The State newspaper detailing how he currently works as Orangeburg County's election director, as well as spending 16 hours a week working as a U.S. Air Force reservist and 40 hours a week as CEO of HoJac Enterprises Inc., which helps repair houses for needy seniors.

Jackson says none of the extra work affected his job the past five years in Orangeburg County.

The State reported it tried numerous times to reach Jackson but he never called the newspaper back.
