SCGOP Files Election FOIA

By Stephanie Savage

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- The S.C. Republican Party filed a new Freedom of Information Act Request (FOIA) at both the Richland County Election Commission and Voter Registration offices.

The State GOP has requested un-redacted copies of emails sent on July 3, 2012.

According to a press release sent by the State Republican Party, the emails, from an unknown “Voter Representative," say “I just talked with Lillian (McBride) and she gave me a revised list of the machines needed for the Nov. 6 (2012) Election. She got the number down to 605 for machines.”

SCGOP Chairman Matt Moore commented, “I promised that if Richland County government won’t give us answers, we’ll get them ourselves. They should release these hidden emails as soon as possible.”

Lillian McBride stepped down January 12, 2013. Last Friday, she was renamed Director of Voter Registration.
