National Hurricane Center Downgrades Chantal

By News Department

COLUMBIA, S.C. (CNN) - Chantal is now a tropical wave.

The National Hurricane Center downgraded it -- after hurricane hunters couldn't find a closed-center of circulation.

All watches and warnings have been cancelled, but heavy rains and gusty winds are still possible over parts of Hispaniola and Jamaica.

Some areas could see as much as six inches of rain.

Chantal is not forecast to redevelop, and the National Hurricane Center has issued its last advisory on Chantal.
