9 Guard members receiving Palmetto Patriot Awards

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) — Nine members of the South Carolina State Guard are receiving awards for service and leadership to the state and nation.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that the guard members are getting the Palmetto Patriot Award at the National Guard Armory on Saturday.

The commendation started by former Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer is the highest award given by the Lieutenant Governor's Office.

The recipients are Brig. Gen. Joe Hudson, Brig. Gen. Richard Seay, Col. Frank Taylor, Lt. Col. Alan Williams, Lt. Col. Richard Hippy, Maj. Marcia Hippy, Chief Warrant Officer Elliott Marvin, Command Sgt. Maj. Edwin McGowan and Command Sgt. Maj. David Pelletier.
