Florida man wanted for slaying arrested in SC
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A man wanted for a Florida slaying has been arrested after an armed robbery and carjacking in South Carolina.
Authorities say 31-year-old Corey Jamaine Dozier is being held in the Dorchester County jail without bail.
Authorities say Dozier shot his girlfriend, Sherry Desravines, in Jacksonville early Sunday and fled north in her car, robbing a service station in Saint George along Interstate 95.
Police say Dozier then crashed that car and, after lying down along the pavement of Interstate 26 as a ruse, hijacked the car of a Bowman couple who stopped to help. He is accused of driving that car toward Charleston until he was arrested.
During a Monday bond hearing, Dozier held his head in his hands and said he didn't mean to hurt anyone.
