13 SC football players suspended in hazing probe
CLOVER, S.C. (AP) — Clover school officials have suspended 13 varsity football players after getting allegations that three players suffered hazing.
One woman says her son was held down by older football players who threatened to sexually assault her son with a broom stick. The woman says she was told by sheriff's deputies that hazing during an initiation has been going on for several years on the Clover football team.
School superintendent Marc Sosne says the school system is investigating, as are sheriff's deputies.
The woman says her son is reluctant to return to school.
She says school officials told her the investigation started when a teacher overheard older players talking about what they had done.
Officers responded to the school Thursday after getting reports about assaults that occurred last month.
