PELION, S.C. (AP) — Police in Pelion say a man and woman left police cars damaged and soiled after being arrested on charges of stealing a cell phone and cigarette lighter.

The State newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/ABB28I ) that 48-year-old Regina Lee Watts and 46-year-old Thomas James Burke were arrested earlier this week.

Police say Burke kicked a window out of one police car while Watts slipped out of her handcuffs and hid them in her pants.

They say she then pulled wires out of the car's blue lights, bent the radio and radar antennas and soiled herself on the floorboards of the cruiser.

Police say the couple had been drinking prior to the arrest.

The two are being held in the Lexington County jail. It could be immediately determined if they have lawyers.
