The deputies found 56-year-old James Grooms unconscious in Gills Creek as they chased him with police dogs after a burglary at a convenience store early Wednesday morning. The officers were able to perform CPR and resuscitate Grooms, but Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says he died Saturday afternoon at the hospital from complications from being under water. |
