Greenville County man pleads in fatal DUI case
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A Greenville County man has pleaded guilty in a drunken driving death last year.
The Greenville News reported (http://grnol.co/LzQ99T ) 35-year-old Bill Joe Hannah of Marietta pleaded guilty Thursday to felony drunken driving resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident.
Hannah was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Hannah drove a vehicle off a road, down an embankment and hit several trees in January 2011. Prosecutors say Hannah left the scene, leaving his passenger dead in the vehicle.
Prosecutors say Hannah tested positive for marijuana metabolites and had a blood alcohol content of 0.11 percent. The legal limit in South Carolina is 9.08 percent.
