Rash of robberies in SC church parking lots
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Berkeley County sheriff's deputies are investigating a rash of burglaries that have taken place as worshippers attended Sunday church services.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (http://bit.ly/NZ9nGv) bandits broke windows and stole purses and other items from cars in parking lots of three area churches Sunday. Deputies say there have also been two break-ins at cars parked at other churches in recent weeks.
Sheriff's spokesman Dan Moon says no arrests have been made.
Pastor David Boyd of the Gateway Church had just preached about loving God and neighbors before worshippers discovered damaged cars outside the church. Boyd says it's a sign of the times and even churches are not safe from such incidents.
