Lamar police chief charged with ethics violations


LAMAR, S.C. (AP) — The police chief of Lamar has been cited for 33 ethics violations stemming from his recent run for Darlington County Sheriff.

The Morning News of Florence reports ( ) that Charles Woodle was cited last month.

The allegation from the South Carolina Ethics Commission says Woodle converted $5,000 given to his campaign for his personal use. The commission also alleges he failed to file campaign disclosure documents and itemize expenditures.

The Associated Press left a message at Lamar Town Hall on Friday seeking comment.

The commission has set a hearing on the charges for November
