Jonathan Oh (Morning/Noon)

Daytime Weather Forecaster/New Media Coordinator

Jonathan Oh is Morning and Noon Weather Forecaster and New Media Coordinator for ABC Columbia, the Midlands' first station with an HD newscast.

Jonathan's interest in television and weather began in 1994, when tornadoes struck his hometown of Lexington, South Carolina, one of them being less than two miles from his house. While completely scared out of his wits, he was awed by the power of weather. When he turned on his television that afternoon, he was inspired to enter broadcast meteorology in order to provide up-to-the-minute forecasts and information people need to protect themselves during severe weather situations.

Jonathan became a part of the ABC Columbia team in August 2010. Prior to that, Jonathan worked at WACH TV as Weather Anchor, Interactive Manager, Videojournalist, and Broadcast Image Director.

Jonathan has held various positions in broadcasting while in school. He served as News Director and Chief Weathercaster for Cable 13 at Duke University for a couple of years before going to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to work at Carolina Week, the school's award-winning student-run news program. There he served as a weather anchor, news anchor/reporter, and Founding Duke Bureau Chief, establishing the Duke University Bureau for the news program. He also served as a weather anchor at WIS while still attending Duke University.

Jonathan has won regional and national weathercasting awards from the Radio and Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas and the Broadcast Education Association and was part of an Emmy-award winning Carolina Week team. He also won an award for his broadcast graphics work from the National Broadcasting Society.

Jonathan is a graduate of Duke University, majoring in Political Science and minoring in History, and is a proud Blue Devil (and yes, he was a Cameron Crazie - GO DUKE!). He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He has also studied Geosciences in Broadcast Meteorology with Mississippi State University. He is also a CompTIA A+ Certified computer technician.

He enjoys video and web production, music, Church, and sports, especially ultimate frisbee, beach volleyball, and martial arts, and he loves to spend time with people (but he also admits his addiction to technology). He is a member at Sandol Presbyterian Church, a Korean-language congregation in Columbia.
