CLEMSON, SC (WOLO) -- Clemson back up quarterback Chad Kelly tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Clemson's Spring Game in April.

He had surgery to repair his ACL on Thursday morning.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Larry Bowman, Clemson’s orthopedic surgeon, who has conducted more than 1,000 ACL surgeries.

Kelly is hoping to make his return by the middle of the 2013 season.

He took to his Twitter account Saturday and said, "Already Back Up Walking!!! Thank You For The Prayers. I Will Be Back!!" (@ChadKelly11)
