COLUMBIA, S.C. (USC SID) -- South Carolina assistant coach Sammy Esposito and strength and conditioning coach Billy Anderson will serve NCAA mandated one-game suspensions as a result of their ejections from South Carolina’s May 12 baseball game against Georgia. This suspension was a result of “personnel other than the head coach ejected for disputing, arguing and unsportsmanlike conduct.” Both will serve their suspension on May 14 for the South Carolina-Presbyterian game.

The ejection also serves as an official warning in regards to the SEC ejection/suspension policy, which is as follows:

“The game officials have the authority to eject a student-athlete, coach or team representative for misconduct or unsportsmanlike conduct. The offending individual must leave the field and dugout area immediately and is not allowed to communicate with the teams or umpires. The ejected individual must remain out of sight and sound for the remainder of the contest. A student-athlete, coach or team representative ejected for misconduct or unsportsmanlike conduct for a first offense will receive a written warning cautioning of actions on further like conduct.

A second and subsequent ejection in the same year will carry a next game suspension for each ejection. End of year suspensions will be carried forward to the next year.

Ejected coaches must leave sight of the playing field when ejected. If the ejected coach does not comply in a timely manner, the game is forfeited.

A suspended person must follow the same penalties as those in an ejection (e.g., removed from sight and sound of the contest). Additionally, a suspended person cannot:

a) Be dressed in game uniform;
b) Communicate with any team personnel or umpires;
c) Take part in any pregame activities at the site of competition; and
d) Be in the stadium or on the field once pregame activities have started.

This policy is in effect for all regular season games and the Southeastern Conference Tournament only.”
