SC State Kicks Off Spring Practice
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (SCSU SID) -- The South Carolina State football team began preparing for its 12-game 2013 schedule Tuesday morning with the first of 15 spring workouts. Approximately 85 players were on hand for the 6:45 a.m. drill, which was conducted in shorts and helmets.
“Well, we got started and I’m glad that things are underway,” said head coach Buddy Pough, who is coming off his first losing campaign in 11 seasons. “It kind of feel like my first day at State,” he added with excitement. “It was a good first workout, the enthusiasm good. I expect it to be better Thursday (the next scheduled workout).
“We have a lot to do and we will be busy finding ways to get it done. It may take three to four days to figure out just where we are.”
The SC State spring schedule will include practices Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:45 a.m.., a couple of Sunday workouts and one Saturday scrimmage. The Bulldogs will culminate drills Apr. 13 with their annual Garnet and Blue contest.
Pough’s team returns to the field Thursday morning at 6:45 and will work out in shorts again.
