By Sports Department

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Columbia basketball's past, present and future collided again on the court at the SC Pro-Am League.

Thursday, Seventh Woods, one of the most highly rated high school players in the country, proved his national reputation to the locals by holding his own against Gamecock great Devan Downey.

Woods, a rising sophomore at Hammond who recently returned from Uruguay where he helped the Team USA under 16 team win a gold medal, threw down a thunderous dunk early in the match-up.

The prep star went on to score 13 points in the game.

Downey, who scored 1,901 points (4th best in school history) in his 3-year Gamecock basketball career, has played professionally overseas after leaving USC in 2008.

Downey scored 27 points in the game. His team lost 86-79.
