Spurrier Goes For 3rd Bowl Victory As USC Head Coach

By Sports Department

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks go for win number 11 in their 2012 campaign. The Head Ball Coach looks to be the only coach in USC history to post three bowl victories when the Gamecocks take on Michigan in the Outback Bowl on January 1st.

Spurrier has posted a 2-4 record in bowl games at USC. This is the 2nd time the Gamecocks will play in the Outback Bowl under Spurrier. They lost to Iowa in 2009, 31-10.

"Every year is a different team as we know," said Spurrier. "Every year is a different team. Even though we went 11-2 last year, this team is almost on pace to do exactly if we can win the bowl game, this team is a different team also."

The Gamecocks and Wolverines will meet for just the third time in the programs' histories. The series is tied 1-1. Kickoff on January 1st is set for 1pm.
