ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Coach Mark Richt says the Bulldogs have "a lot to prove" after Georgia landed at No. 6 in The Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll.

Richt says he's glad the voters are optimistic about Georgia's season.

Georgia completed its 18th of 29 preseason practices on Saturday morning. Richt left the afternoon open for the team's annual picture day for fans.

Some players had family members at Saturday's practice. Richt says the players responded with a strong session. He says "practice is usually better" when visitors are watching.

There were five Southeastern Conference teams in the top 10, including No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 LSU, No. 9 South Carolina and No. 10 Arkansas.

Georgia opens its season against Buffalo on Sept. 1.
