Georgia prep star signs with Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Georgia prep star Jarquez Smith has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Florida State.

The 6-9 forward from Haddock, Ga., entered the Seminoles' fold on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

Smith last year averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots per game as a junior at Jones County High School in Gray, Ga.

He selected Florida State over Georgia Tech, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama and South Carolina.
