Back Dancing: 2 SC teams in NCAA tournament

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Wofford coach Mike Young was disappointed his Terriers weren't part of the NCAA tournament the past two seasons. He was also bothered he had no other teams from South Carolina to pull for in those events.

The Palmetto State's drought ended this year with Big South champions Coastal Carolina and Southern Conference winners Wofford in the field of 68.

One of the nation's smallest states went 16 consecutive years with at least one of its 12 NCAA Division I schools making March madness. That finished in 2012 when no state team reached the sport's biggest event and continued last March.

Both the Chanticleers and Terriers await Sunday's NCAA selections. Young believes such dry times are cyclical and expects more state teams to make the NCAAs in upcoming years.
