CLEMSON, S.C. (WOLO) -- The Carolina Panthers have released former Clemson Tiger and Camden native Thomas Austin.

Austin was a two-time All-ACC selection with Clemson, but has had a tough NFL career.

He has been picked up by four different NFL teams, but has never seen the field.

The Minnesota Vikings signed Austin in 2010, but he was waived by the team during final cuts before the regular season.

The New England Patriots signed him to their practice squad a few weeks later in 2010.

Austin was re-signed to a future contract on January 20, 2011, but was waived on September 3.

On September 4, he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans and was waived on September 1st, 2012.

The New England Patriots signed Austin to their practice squad on September 1, 2012.

On October 2nd, 2012, his contract was terminated.

On October 11, Austin signed with the Carolina Panthers.
