Columbia, SC (WOLO) - According to the Montreal Alouettes' social media sites (Facebook and Twitter) they have signed former South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia.

Garcia was kicked off the USC Football team this past October after five previous suspensions. Garcia had hoped to continue his football career in the NFL but was not drafted in April's Draft. Garcia took part in the Alouettes camp back in May.

Garcia threw for 7,597 yards, 47 touchdowns and 41 interceptions at South Carolina.

The announcement was made on the team's Facebook/Twitter pages earlier today: "Quarterback Stephen Garcia has been added to the Alouettes roster. Details to come."

The Alouettes won the 2009 and 2010 Grey Cup and open their 2012 Canadian Football League campaign this Sunday July 1st.
