Looking Ahead To The Outback Bowl
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- The 10th (BCS) ranked Gamecocks will head to Tampa to play on New Years Day to play the 18th (BCS) ranked Michigan Wolverines. Here is a quick look at the match up.
The Gamecocks finished the regular season at 10-2, one win away from their second straight 11 win season. Carolina's latest victory was the 27-17 win over in-state rival Clemson. Dylan Thompson started the game behind center for the Gamecocks because of starter Connor Shaw's foot injury, which should be cleared up by January 1st. Jadeveon Clowney had a career day against the Tigers as well with 4.5 sacks and getting to 13 sacks on the season -- both school records.
The Wolverines finished the season 8-4 with two of their loses coming against the two teams getting ready to play for the BCS title, Notre Dame and Alabama. Michigan's Denard Robinson is considered one of the most explosive and exciting football players in college football and the team's leading passer and rusher with 1319 yards passing and 1166 yards rushing.
