NFL Draft Kicks Off Thursday

By Kyle Dauberman

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- The NFL Draft starts Thursday on ESPN at 8 p.m. with the first round of the draft, while the second and third round will be Friday at 6:30 p.m., and the final rounds (four through seven) will be on Saturday at noon. While there are no former Gamecocks are projected to go in the first there are several that have been projected to be selected through out the entire draft with the highest projection to be safety D.J. Swearinger in the second round.

Former Gamecock Marcus Lattimore is considered to be the biggest wildcard of the draft because of his two knee injures, especially the most recent injury. The former projected first rounder is still considered to be a decent draft pick because of his character and work ethic. The recent success of players that had former injuries also adds to the idea that Lattimore's past injuries may not be as much as a deterrent as they may have been in the past, think Adrian Peterson rushing for 2097 yards less than a year after tearing his ACL and MCL.

Here is a list of what round former Gamecocks are projected to be drafted according to ESPN's Scouts Inc.:

D.J. Swearinger - 2nd Round
DeVonte Holloman - 4th Round
Marcus Lattimore - 4th Round
Devin Taylor - 4th Round
Ace Sanders - 5th Round
Justice Cunningham - 7th Round
