Pankake And Boulware Eliminated Early In HR Derby

OMAHA, Neb. (WOLO) -- The College Home Run Derby took place Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.

It will be televised Thursday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

The Home Run Derby included three rounds of play: Round 1 featuring all contestants, Round 2 featuring the top four after Round 1, and Round 3 featuring the top two after Round 2.

In each round, contestants were challenged to hit as many home runs as they can before logging 10 outs.

Balls reaching the warning track did not count as an out, giving players another opportunity at bat.

Additionally, following the 10th and final out of each at bat, contestants had an opportunity to hit a home run with the Bonus Ball.

If successful, the special ball would tack two additional home runs onto the contestant's total score.

South Carolina was represented by infielder Joey Pankake.

The Gamecock shortstop hit one home run in Round 1.

It was the Bonus Ball, so he was credited with two extra home runs, but was eliminated.

Clemson catcher Garrett Boulware hit a pair of home runs in Round 1 but was also eliminated.

Citadel's Bo Thompson hit four home runs in Round 1, including a 472-foot bomb.

The hit was the longest of the night.

Thompson advanced to Round 2 but failed to make the finals.
