(WOLO) -- Tonight the USC women's basketball team will try to cash its NCAA Tournament ticket to the Sweet 16 for the second straight season. The #4 seed Gamecocks will play #12 seed Kansas at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2. It's the first ever meeting between the two schools in women's basketball.

Dawn Staley and USC (25-7) are coming off a 74-52 win against #13 seed South Dakota State in opening round play in Boulder, Colorado. Kansas (19-13) upset former Big 12 foe #5 seed Colorado 67-52.

"I think Kansas is showing why they are in the tournament," Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley said. "If they can come in and play in the hostile environment like it was (Saturday) and win, they are much deserving. I do not know what goes into selecting what seed or what site. I know that when it comes down to playing in the NCAA tournament it is anybody's game." Staley added, "If we were just playing for seeds, then pack our bags we are heading to the Sweet 16. I think Kansas has a lot to say about that."
