(WOLO) -- The University of Florida announced Wednesday afternoon former Gamecock forward Damontre Harris will become a Gator. USC announced the rising junior was exploring a transfer a few weeks after Frank Martin took over for the fired Darrin Horn as the new Gamecock Head Basketball Coach. Harris will have to sit out the upcoming season but will have two more years of eligibility starting the 2013-14 season.

The Fayetteville, N.C. native averaged 5.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in two seasons at South Carolina. The 6-9, 226-pound forward was second in the SEC with 71 blocks and made the conference All-Defensive team as a sophomore.
