W. Virginia Baseball Hires Former Tiger Mazey

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia University has hired Randy Mazey as head baseball coach.

WVU Director of Athletics Oliver Luck announced Mazey's appointment Wednesday in a news release.

Mazey replaces Greg Van Zant, whose contract wasn't renewed.

Mazey has served as an assistant coach at TCU for six seasons. He previously was the head coach at East Carolina and Charleston Southern and is a former Clemson player and assistant coach.

Mazey also played for two seasons in Cleveland's minor league system.

His career record as a head coach is 186-159-2.
