Spurrier Prepares For Auburn

Steve Spurrier has enjoyed doing a lot of things for the first time in South Carolina football history. Beating Auburn is not one of them. Spurrier, 0-5 against Auburn as the Gamecocks head coach, says his team has to hope and believe it can compete with the 5th-ranked Tigers this Saturday. The Ball Coach points out his team was able to beat Georgia. He hopes that means USC will be able to compete at Auburn. Saturday's game at Jordan Hare Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network. USC Women Picked As Repeat SEC Champs

A panel of both SEC and national media members picked South Carolina to win the 2015 SEC women’s basketball championship, the league office announced today. The Gamecocks claimed their first SEC title last season and, if the prediction holds, would become just the fourth team to defend its title. Rookie linebacker Jadeveon Clowney will miss his sixth straight game on Monday night when the Houston Texans play the Pittsburgh Steelers. USC Women Roll To Rocky Top Win

No. 2 South Carolina (+13) claimed a 14-stroke win for its second title of the fall season at this weekend’s Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships hosted by the University of Tennessee at the Cherokee Country Club. Freshman Nanna Madsen captured medalist’s honors by three strokes at 1-under and junior Mary Fran Hillow carded a program-record 65 in today’s round. Three Gamecocks finished in the top four. Mike Davis ran for two touchdowns and Dylan Thompson threw two touchdown passes to give South Carolina a 28-7 lead on Furman at halftime. Thompson was 11 of 16 passing for 227 yards and two TDs. Davis had 13 carries for 81 rushing yards and two TDs. Read More »

USC-Furman Gameday Parking Info

Due to the annual South Carolina State Fair, Gamecock Club reserved parking in the State Fairgrounds will not be honored on Saturday for the South Carolina – Furman football game. The Fairgrounds parking lot, which is free to all patrons, will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday for both fair and football parking. Vehicles will be parked on a first-come, first-serve basis. Vehicles will be allowed to enter through either Gate 6 off Assembly Street, or Gate 10 off Bluff Road. Fairgrounds employees will handle all parking in the Fairgrounds lot. No tents, awnings, chairs or grills will be allowed. Gamecock Club hanging tags will not be recognized. Gates 7, 8 and 9 will be used as exit gates only. Read More »

Clowney Returns To Practice

No. 1 overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney has returned to practice and hopes to play on Monday night when Houston meets the Pittsburgh Steelers. Clowney practiced Friday in a limited capacity for the first time since having arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Coach Bill O'Brien says they'll decide before the game on Monday if he can play. USC Hoops To Hold Open Practice

The South Carolina men's basketball team announced today that the squad will hold an open practice on Friday night, Oct. 17, from 6-7 p.m. ET, at the practice facility located on the corner of Blossom and Assembly streets. University of South Carolina senior tight end Rory Anderson has been named to the 2014 John Mackey Award Midseason Watch List, it was announced today. Anderson, a 6-5, 227-pounder from Powder Springs, Ga., has caught 17 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown through six games this season.
