Ciuffo Class AAAA Player of the Year

Gamecock signee Nick Ciuffo earned AAAA state player of the year honors from the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association on Tuesday. The senior Lexington High School catcher also tweeted that he has accepted an invitation to attend next month's MLB Draft in New York. Read more »

Tyler Webb School Record With 104 Appearances

Senior left-hander Tyler Webb made three relief appearances this past week and posted saves in Tuesday’s 4-3 win over Presbyterian and Friday’s 5-3 win over Mississippi State. Webb now owns the South Carolina career record for appearances with 104, surpassing the previous mark of 102 set by Matt Price (2009-12). Webb leads the SEC with 16 saves including nine saves in conference contests. He has not allowed a run in 22 of 26 relief appearances this year. Webb is 2-2 with a 1.27 ERA in 35.1 innings. He has 51 strikeouts to just nine walks, opponents batting .194 against him. Read More »

Greiner's HR Helps USC Even Miss St. Series

Grayson Greiner's two-out two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning lifted 12th ranked South Carolina to a 5-3 victory over 16th ranked Mississippi State on Friday evening at Dudy Noble Field in game two of a three-game SEC series. The Gamecocks clinch the No. 4 seed at next week's SEC Tournament and earn a bye into Wednesday night and the double elimination format in bracket two. Esposito & Anderson To Serve One-Game Supsensions

South Carolina assistant coach Sammy Esposito and strength and conditioning coach Billy Anderson will serve NCAA mandated one-game suspensions as a result of their ejections from South Carolina’s May 12 baseball game against Georgia. This suspension was a result of “personnel other than the head coach ejected for disputing, arguing and unsportsmanlike conduct.” Both will serve their suspension on May 14 for the South Carolina-Presbyterian game.
