USC's Walton Gets Start Over Moore

Tbe South Carolina football team is putting the finishing touches on their game preparations for the 2014 season opener. The No. 9 Gamecocks will host No 21 Texas A&M on Thursday, August 28. Game time is set for 6 p.m. ET at a sold-out Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Following Tuesday’s practice, defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward said that sophomore Jonathan Walton would get the nod at WILL linebacker over projected starter Skai Moore, although Moore would play early. “You just got to make sure he does what he was supposed to do when you ask him to do something,” said Ward of Moore. “He has to get treatment. He hurt his shoulder a little bit, so he didn’t go to treatment. You don’t go to treatment you don’t play. You got to go to treatment.” Read more »

Aggies To Add To State House History

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Steve Spurrier doesn't necessarily like Texas A&M fans gathering at the SC state house Thursday at 12:01 a.m. But the Ball Coach says he'll let the governor worry about that. He's got another ballgame to win. The SC state house has long been the site of many spectacles throughout its history. This week the Aggies plan to add another unique chapter. At Sunday's preview press conference Spurrier was asked about the longstanding A&M tradition of fans gathering the night before a game at home or on the road. USC's Man In The Middle Likely Holloman

The South Carolina football team continued preparations for Thursday’s season opener against Texas A&M by working out for two hours at the Bluff Road “Proving Grounds” on Sunday afternoon. Linebackers coach Kirk Botkin said that the competition between T.J. Holloman and Kaiwan Lewis is still tight, with Holloman holding a slight edge. “He has just brought a little more of a physical presence,” said Botkin. “He’s always been really good in pass coverage and has some great ball skills. He’s just been a little bit more physical in his play and a little more consistent. Against spread teams, we like (Holloman) a little better. Kaiwan does a good job too. It’s just a slight lead right now.” Read More »

Ace Sanders Returns To Jaguars

Former Gamecock Ace Sanders received a resounding ovation during Jacksonville's team meeting Sunday. The receiver got a reality check when he stepped on the football field for the first time in more than a month. Sanders returned from a 31-day leave of absence Sunday and attended practice for the first time since organized team activities in June. Sander spent much of the two-hour session running and riding a stationary bike, trying to get acclimated to the sweltering heat and humidity. "I've got a lot of work to do to get back, but I feel pretty good for the most part," Sanders said. "I've got to get back used to the weather." Read More »

Clowney Makes Early Impact For Texans

Jadeveon Clowney is already showing how dominant he can be in the NFL. The top overall pick in the draft made big hits behind the line on consecutive plays and Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a touchdown pass to DeVier Posey in the Texans' 32-7 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday night. Houston selected Clowney out of South Carolina to form a powerful 1-2 pass-rushing attack with J.J. Watt. Watt sat out Saturday's game and Clowney seized the defensive spotlight on Atlanta's second series. He burst through the line untouched and crashed into Antone Smith almost the second the running back took a handoff from Matt Ryan. On the next snap, Clowney whipped around left tackle Sam Baker and smacked down Ryan for a 7-yard loss. "It's work," Clowney said. "You just got to work and get after the guys, go hard and hope for something good. You just have to do your job." Read More »
