Shaw Ready To Go Saturday

COLUMBIA, S.C. (USC SID) -- The No. 12/11 South Carolina Gamecocks (8-2, 6-2 SEC) worked out Wednesday afternoon at the Bluff Road practice fields on another chilly day in the Palmetto State.

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was held out of practice again on Wednesday. Clowney continues to rest his sore foot. Quarterback Connor Shaw was able to practice again on Wednesday and should be ready to go on Saturday, according to quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus.

Offensive line coach Shawn Elliott said his group had an “average” performance last week against Arkansas. “We didn’t rush for a lot of yards,” admitted Elliott. “We had some bad run plays, but had some really good running plays at times. Some of the plays that we ran should have been a little different. Some times it was the blocking. All in all, it was just an average day. Nothing spectacular.”

Elliott noted that the offense most likely won’t have many possessions this week against a run-oriented team like Wofford, so it has to make the ones it does get count.

The Gamecocks return to action on Saturday when they host the Wofford Terriers (8-2, 6-2 SoCon) in a 1 p.m. start at Williams-Brice Stadium. The game will be televised on a pay-per-view basis throughout the state of South Carolina with Andy Demetra and Brad Muller describing the action.
