Gamecocks Hit The Road For First SEC Game

By Sports Department

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Frank Martin and the 10-3 Gamecocks hit the road for their first SEC matchup of the season.

The team has already matched last year's win total, and Wednesday USC looks for its first conference victory of the season against Mississippi State.

"Even if we win, I'll somehow figure out a way to ruin their confidence Thursday at practice," said Martin. "I just have a bad way of doing that. It's unbelievable. We'd like to win. We're going to prepare to win."

The Gamecocks only won two conference games on their SEC schedule last year.

"We're going to put our heads down and plow as hard as we can to figure out a way to win," said Martin. "Whether we do or we don't, we better have confidence Thursday at practice."

USC plays in Starkville tomorrow night against a Mississippi State squad that is 5-7 heading into SEC play. Tip off is set for 8pm.
