Gamecocks Look To Improve Late-Game Execution
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Frank Martin and company is 0-2 in SEC play and hoping for win number one in the conference Wednesday night at LSU.
But, those losses haven't been by much. The Gamecocks have lost their first two conference games by a combined five points.
"I don't know what to tell you, those kids are trying their hearts out," said Martin. "We're there. We got to have the confidence to make those plays in that moment."
Guard Eric Smith says during practice, the team has been focusing on late-game execution.
"We've definitely been trying to work a little bit better in practice at just finishing, executing and coming up with that last stop," said Smith. "Frank has also been talking to us a lot about being fearless in the end of games. Trying to come up with stops and having the courage to make that last play that we need to win the game."
USC hits the road Wednesday for their third SEC contest of the season. Tip off is set for 8pm.
