Gamecocks Numbers Of The Season
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- The Gamecocks have finished regular season play at 10-2 (6-2 in the SEC) and wait for bowl announcements to take place to figure out where they are going. Here are some of the numbers over the entire season.
Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier set the new school record for wins in a career with 65 wins after the teams win at Clemson this past weekend. When Carolina beat UAB earlier this season Spurrier got his 200th collegiate win.
Jadeveon Clowney had 4.5 sacks this past weekend at Clemson which set a program record for sacks in a game and those sacks also put him at 13 sacks on the season which is also a school record for sacks in a single season. The 13 sacks also has Clowney tied with Florida States Bjoern Werner for first in total sacks in the FBS.
Star running back Marcus Lattimore set a new school record for rushing touchdowns in a career at USC with 38 rushing TDs at this point in his career before going down with the season ending knee injury against Tennessee.
Starting quarterback Connor Shaw has thrown for 1732 yards and 15 touchdowns this season on 136 of 202 passing attempts in his 10 starts.
Bruce Ellington has been a huge addition to the receiving corps in his second year on the team leading the team in receptions and yards with 38 receptions for 564 yards with 6 touchdowns.
Ace Sanders has been great for the Gamecocks as well with 36 receptions for 439 yards and 7 touchdowns. Sanders also has been a play marker on the special teams setting a new school record for punt return yards in a single season with 363 yards on 25 returns.
