COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- If Colby Holmes didn't like rain before Tuesday, he does now.

Trailing 3-0 in the 2nd inning to USC Upstate, the defending back-to-back national champion Gamecocks were officially rained out Tuesday night.

Upstate tagged Holmes, a junior with a 6-0 record on the season, for all three runs. The Conway native, who was pitching for the first time in nearly a month because of injury, did not make it through the first inning.

USC now looks forward to a big home series against LSU to wrap up the regular season. The Gamecocks go into the series a half game behind Kentucky in the SEC standings and a half game ahead of LSU for second place.
