COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- South Carolina has sold more than 50,000 season tickets for the 2013 football season.

The Gamecocks have not sold that many season tickets since 2008.

Steve Spurrier is in his 9th season in Columbia and considers this year's team to be his best.

Spurrier knows fans are fired up about the season and are ready to see the Gamecocks accomplish things they haven't in the past.

“We still have goals out there we have not achieved, like winning the SEC, like going to major bowl games. A lot of times you go 10-2 and you get to go to the Sugar Bowl. The last two years, there have been teams 11-1, 12-0. Those are two good bowl games, the Outback and Capital One," said Spurrier.

Spurrier averaged seven wins in his first five seasons in Columbia and is coming off back-to-back 11-win seasons in the past two years.
