Gamecocks Look To Continue Winning Ways
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Frank Martin and company hope to continue their winning ways, but it won't be easy as the Gamecocks travel to Gainesville to take on the 8th-ranked Gators Wednesday.
Saturday, USC beat Arkansas for their second SEC victory of the season, 75-54. It was the Gamecocks biggest win against a conference opponent since 2009.
Following USC's win at LSU, the Gamecocks dropped their next two games against Vanderbilt and Missouri. Coach Martin is hoping the guys will be ready to practice Monday.
"I come in here excited about coaching you to get better," said Martin. "Now, I want you to be excited about practicing to get better. So we won a game, great. Unfortunately we don't get to cancel the rest of the season because we won."
Martin also says with Saturday's win, it will bring the Gamecocks more opportunities to keep getting better.
"You have to invest emotionally, you have to invest physically," said Martin. "I was talking to Billy Donovan the other day, and he said, 'Frank, you know, it's like putting money in the bank.' You know? The more you put in the bank, the more you got at the end. Well, that's what you gotta do to as an athlete."
USC faces no. 8 Florida Wednesday. TIp off is set for 8pm in Gainesville.
