Martin: "I Got Wrapped Up With The Other Team"

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- The road for the Gamecocks doesn't get any easier as the regular season begins to wind down. USC is 2-6 in SEC play with a trip to Lexington and a home game versus Tennessee up next for the Gamecocks.

Last week was brutal for USC as they suffered a 39-point loss to Florida in Gainesville, and another one at home against Georgia, 67-56.

In his postgame interview Saturday, Frank Martin took the blame for the back-to-back losses. Monday he clarified what he meant at his weekly press conference.

"I talk all the time about not paying attention to winning and losing, about paying attention to detail, paying attention to who we are, paying attention to the culture, and we had been playing so good that I got wrapped up with the other team more than our own team," said Martin.

Martin has focused on building a culture at USC from the get-go.

"I'm asking our guys to fight for the culture we're trying to build," said Martin. "They've never done that, and for me to expect them to do that on their own right now is not fair to them."

Next up for USC is Kentucky Tuesday night at Rupp Arena. Tip off is set for 9pm.
