Ellington Back In Time For SEC Opener
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- After a few days off following the Gamecocks 33-28 win over Michigan in the Outback Bowl last week, Bruce Ellington is back on the hardwood.
At his weekly press conference Tuesday, head coach Frank Martin called Ellington one of the "impact" players of this Gamecocks squad.
"He can impact games the way Denis Clemente and Jacob Pullen did for us at K-State," said Martin.
By that, Martin means that Ellington has an infectious personality on his teammates.
"When he's in practice, the guy that's next to him, whatever team he's with, the guy next to him all of a sudden plays better," said Martin.
Ellington has played in four games so far this season and is averaging 9.8 ppg and 3.0 rpg.
Wednesday night's SEC opener between USC and Mississippi is the first game back for Ellington since the Dec. 19 game against Appalachian State. Tipoff is set for 8pm.
