COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) -- Roy Williams joined the Gamecock baseball team in the dugout Saturday at Carolina Stadium.

The UNC basketball coach bid $3,000 at the Reece Holbrook Win Away Foundation benefit in 2012 to sit in USC baseball coach Chad Holbrook's dugout this season.

Williams picked Saturday to join the Gamecocks.

Holbrook sat on Williams' bench last season when North Carolina took on Miami.

He is a UNC alumus and a longtime friend with Williams.

He also played and coached baseball at Chapel Hill from 1990 to 2008.

Holbrook bid $6,500 to sit on the Tar Heels' bench during the Fast Break Against Cancer breakfast last October.

Holbrook's 10-year-old son Reece was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was two-years-old.

Reece's cancer has been in remission for five years.
