Staley to Stay at South Carolina

By Sports Department

WOLO -- South Carolina head women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley announced Sunday she has withdrawn her name from consideration for the vacant coaching position at Ohio State.

USC Athletics Director Ray Tanner confirmed Friday that Ohio State had contacted him to get permission to speak with Staley.

The 12th year coach was expected to interview with the Buckeyes early next week.

Tanner said he would do everything possible to keep her in Columbia.

Staley took to her Twitter account Sunday to confirm she was staying:

"IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A GAMECOCK!! Lets finish what we started!!" - @dawnstaley

Staley has a 92-66 record at USC, including a 38-40 record in the Southeastern Conference.
