COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) -- Junior Gamecock pitcher Matt Price saw his first action as a starting pitcher on Saturday in a 3-2 win against VMI. Price played the role as a relief pitcher and closer for the last two seasons for South Carolina.

Against VMI in game one of a double-header on Saturday, Price got a no decision after pitching five innings with seven strike outs and two earned runs. In the sixth inning he began to lose control because of what he says was fatigue. Price went on to say that the fatigue effected his mechanics which resulted in his overall performance that led to the two earned runs.

Price, a Sumter, South Carolina native, feels he can overcome this issue, and so does his coach, Ray Tanner.
