By Sports Department

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- About 40 former Gamecock football players who played in the NFL gathered for a luncheon in Columbia Monday. The gathering is part of USC's effort to strengthen its Lettermen Club and renew bonds with some of the best players to ever put on a Carolina football uniform.

Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers, current Pro-Bowler Johnathan Joseph, first round draft pick Troy Williamson and longtime NFL defensive backs Sheldon Brown and Andre Goodman were just some of the former Gamecocks in attendance.

"It's always amazing to see how many great football players we're adding," Rogers said.

"It's just a great feeling," Joseph said. "Some of these guys you haven't met at all you just always hear their names called. It's good to put a name to a face."
