HOOVER, AL (WOLO) -- The Gamecocks' SEC Tournament struggles continue. 5th-seeded Vanderbilt edged #2 seed USC 3-2 in the late game Wednesday night. Carolina plays 10th-seeded Auburn in an elimination game Thursday evening.

Vandy rightfielder Mike Yastrzemski, the grandson of MLB Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski, executed a squeeze bunt to perfection to break a 2-2 tie in the 8th inning. That was the third unanswered run the Commodores scored on the game.

USC jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind a 2-RBI single in the 2nd inning from freshman Tanner English.

Despite winning 16 NCAA tournament games in a row and the last two national championships, Carolina baseball has just one win now in its last six games at the SEC Tournament.

Vanderbilt advances to play Florida in a winners bracket match-up in the late game Thursday night.
