COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- The ninth ranked (BCS) Gamecocks host FCS Wofford this Saturday at 1 p.m. at WIlliams-Brice Stadium. Here is a look at the Terriers.
The Terriers run the Triple Option offense and therefore do not throw the ball very often. Brian Kass has played the most for the Terriers under center attempting 42 passes and completing 18 passes for 345 yards and 6 touchdowns. James Lawson has played a little for Wofford as well throwing for 82 yards on 10 of 17 passing attempts. Last week, Lawson attempted more passes than Kass; Lawson completed 4 of 5 passes for 29 yards and Kass was 1 of 2 for 5 yards.
The Terriers Triple Option has produced a lot of yards for senior running back Eric Breitenstein; 1528 yards on 216 attempts and 15 touchdowns. Last week against Chattanooga Breitenstein has 132 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. The offense for the Terriers has averaged 33.8 points per game.
The Terriers have only given up 17.1 points per game against fellow FCS opponents. Wofford's defense has 16 sacks and 7 interceptions on the season. Junior Alvin Scioneaux leads the team with 4 sacks.
Comparing this to the Gamecocks; who have 34 sacks and 12 interceptions through ten games. Sophomore Jadeveon Clowney is USC's leader in sacks at 9.5. The Gamecocks are ranked 19th in the nation in points against allowing 18.5 points per game.
