Women's Basketball Open SEC Tournament On Thursday

COLUMBIA, S.C. (USC SID) -- South Carolina opens play at the 2013 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament on Thu., March 7, at 2:30 p.m., taking on the winner of Wednesday's game between Mississippi State and Alabama. The fifth-seeded Gamecocks (23-6, 11-5 SEC) are looking to build on last year's semifinal finish at the event to build momentum into the NCAA Tournament.

The league's coaches placed three Gamecocks on the All-SEC teams, led by SEC Defensive Player of the Year Ieasia Walker on the first team. Forwards Ashley Bruner and Aleighsa Welch earned spots on the second team. Tiffany Mitchell earned an All-Freshman nod from the coaches.
