Our youngest "child" is a golden retriever. He turned one on January 28, 2012. After extensive research, we started to feed him "Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul", which is a Diamond Pet Food product. On Wednesday, he began to suffer from diarrhea in an alarming manner. We originally thought he had eaten something he shouldn't have due to the scavenger nature of retrievers; however, on Friday with no improvement, I decided to do some research. I was horrified to discover the food we had been giving him was under recall for salmonella. Had this been "human" food it would have been all over the news. I guess he would have got over it in about a week and we would have been none the wiser; however, we had been feeding him per normal and (unknown to us) just continued to aggravate the matter. I know that we are not the only pet owners feeding our animals this product.....I am not sure how many are aware of the recall.
