The Palmetto Skate Club will be sending three local figure skaters to Dallas, Texas next week for the Ice Skating Institute’s World Competition! They are:
Sierra Clark, a rising senior at Irmo High School
Ainsley Gossett, a rising 6th grader at the Timmerman School
Madalyn Hair a rising freshman at Irmo High School
Over 1,000 skaters from the U.S., China, Phillipines and Mexico will be competing July 23 – 28 by age and skill level. The girls from Palmetto Skate Club have entered a variety of events during the competition, which will take place at the Dr. Pepper Stars Center, the practice facility for the NHL Dallas Stars.
As part of the festivities during the week, they will attend a Competitors Party and parade at a local dude ranch, and participate in a skating clinic with U.S. Ladies Figure Skating Champion Ashley Wagner and her coach John Nicks. In addition, scouts will be watching the week-long competition and will choose skaters to be a part of the ISI Education Foundation Benefit show with Ashley Wagner on the last day of competition. Proceeds from the show go toward annual college scholarships awarded to selected graduating seniors that are active members of Ice Skating Institute.
In addition to skating in a rink that seats over 5,000 people, the girls are looking forward to visiting the Dallas area. Shopping is number one on their list of things to do, but they also hope to visit Cowboy’s Stadium , Southfork Ranch, and Dealey Plaza among other things.

All three skaters train at Plex Indoor Sports in Irmo and are coached by Debbie Allen.
