1-Year-Old Drowns In Mop Bucket

SUMTER, S.C. (AP) _ A 1-year-old South Carolina girl has drownedafter she fell into a mop bucket. The Item of Sumter reported Saturday that Khianna Benjamin diedaround 11:30 p.m. Thursday night. Authorities say Khianna’s father woke up Thursday night and sawhis daughter headfirst in a mop bucket in the kitchen. RobertBenjamin and his girlfriend, who was not the girl’s mother, tookKhianna to a neighbor’s house and called 911. Khianna was pronounced dead at a hospital, and an autopsy showedthat she drowned. Police Maj. Alvin Holston says theirinvestigation is ongoing.
