Latino Population Critical to Census Count
Census officials believe one minority group is critical to South Carolina’s 2010 Census count. The Latino population is growing in the midlands. According to census data, between 2000 and 2008, South Carolina gained almost 89-thousand people of Hispanic origin. An accurate head count ensures the state receives its fair share of more than 400-billion in federal funds every year, for the next 10 years. If you are bilingual, and are interested in getting a job with the census bureau, you have to take a basic skills test, have a valid drivers license and a car.
